Stepping up the Safer Streets Summer campaign

#TogetherForBedfordshire | Our Safer Streets Summer initiative has been the focus for our community teams this week and, as ever, it’s a combination of enforcement and engagement.

The @LutonCommunityPolicingTeam has been continuing its work on Operation Foresight, patrolling the town centre using both plain clothed officers and colleagues in uniform.

They were joined by their new Chief Inspector, Chris Simmons, and don’t forget he will be part of the Town Centre Taskforce team which is holding a Facebook Q&A session on Wednesday at 6.30pm. Anyone can join, click on their Community page for a reminder:

Also at that event will be the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Tizard. OnThursday, he joined the @dunstableandhoughtonregispolicing team and our colleagues from @letstalkcentral Central Beds Council and @Dunstablecouncil to emphasise how high visibility, intelligence-led policing and teamwork works to help keep the town remain a vibrant place for everyone.

The @bedfordcommunitypolicingteam team were also out and about in town, disrupting crime and anti-social behaviour. They’ve been focusing on St Peter’s Green and high visibility patrols which led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

At the weekend it was a bit more light-hearted as the cohesion team helped celebrate the town’s 10th anniversary Eid in Bedford event.

And finally last week we were asking you to help us name the new police dog at Luton Airport. The winning name was Cooper, but the even better news is that Cooper’s sister, Myla, has also joined up – which means another fabulous Friday pup pic!
